a SoCal wedding.

Lisamarie, my PIC, got married!!!
(PIC = partner in crime, FYI)
here’s some photos from the beautiful event,
taken with my iphone.
sadly, my proper camera had a major issue…
hopefully this will do.
look at how beeeeeyooootiful and happy she is!!

the incredibly romantic wedding site was dripping with rain -
we all sat cozily snuggled in beneath a canopy,

the groom, Kyle.
he doesn’t look nervous does he?

the groom, racing up the aisle to his bride to be…
yes those are Volcom suits and custom made Vans
for the groom and his groomsmen.
this is SoCal!

the bride’s nephew and ring bearer extraordinaire,
pushes the pansy filled wagon and rings
to the mr & mrs to be.

due to the rain, we sat inside the gorgeous old manse,
enjoying dinner with friends…
old and new.

the bride gave us a spin, or two, or five.
such a beautiful spirit…

after dinner, the bacchanalian revelry continued,
with dancing and maybe a drink or two.
yeah, the bride’s rockin’ her very own Vans.

it also came as no surprise,
if you know ‘baby bell and the big cheese’,
that the father-daughter dance consisted of a waltz,
which broke into a choreographed version of
Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock’s
‘It Take’s Two’.
absolutely perfect.

Congratulations!
to you Lisamarie and Kyle,
and thank you for sharing the joy and beauty
of your wedding day with all of us.
may your love grow strong from the roots and branch out
to all of those who surround you,
just as Kristi’s ‘wedding tree’ creation suggests:

…and they lived happily ever after.
the end.

the 2 misters weddingpallooza

it was one of those perfect DC weekends - warm autumn days filled with joy, love and laughter.

friends came from across the globe to join in the festivities.

a ‘creative island’ themed wedding, with a bike ride across the nation’s capital:

and, of course, a colorful cast of characters to share in the beauty of the occasion:

I have been to many weddings near and far – some in magical, exotic locations.

however, the love that christian and alejo share, and in turn, create for those that are part of their lives made this, BY FAR, the most beautiful wedding I have ever attended.

alejo and christian, thank you for making such a positive impact on those who surround you, and thank you for showing us all what living and loving life is REALLY about.

you couldn’t possibly be loved more.

paris sunset

for my last evening in paris,
kasia, giorgio, and i attended the grand opening of an italian gelato shop. (yum!)
then, had dinner at a perfect parisian cafe.  (yes, gelato BEFORE dinner!)
after dinner we grabbed some velib bikes and headed up to montmartre.
and this is what the sunset bike ride looked like:

at first, i thought this lovely sky to be a sort of ‘bon voyage’ from the city of lights.
however, knowing the french, i think it was more of a…
‘look what you’ll be missing’.

Mariage Freres.

After this, I walked over to the Marais to meet Kasia for some afternoon tea.
She told me to meet her at Mariage Freres - for a very ‘special tea experience.’
Wow, was she right!

I have never seen a menu with so many different types of tea on it.

Hmmmm. What to choose…
Got Chai?

picnics and margaritas

i met my new ‘forever friend’ kasia, through her blog about paris: Love in the City of Lights.
take a peek at it, and you’ll quickly see why we became fast and furious friends.
so on the day we met, i joined her for an evening picnic
and met some more new friends in the process:

i could only get one pic of the picnic, as it started to pour rain just moments later.
so, we all headed off for… what else?
margaritas. at a mexican joint.
LOVE IT.
and… since my photo skills seem to get better after a few drinks,
i stopped and snapped some pics on the bike ride home:

ah, yes…
the city of lights.
tres belle.

ice skating rockefeller plaza

headed back to nyc to see the city in all its christmas glory and to ice skate at rockefeller plaza:

so kara and i laced up some skates and made yet another dream reality. i dont think either of us have laughed that hard in ages. with christmas carols in our ears, and joy in our hearts, we skated for the first time in, well,
lets just say... a long long time.
such a fun nite!

of course we had to celebrate seeing one another again, and what better way than to head to the pub for a pint?
hmmm. starting to sense a theme here. again.

cheers! to creating memories with a best friend...

fun in new york city!

while visiting nyc was a bit tough for bijou...
lets just say a spot for #2 is difficult, late at nite, when all the parks are closed (concrete jungle, INDEED!);
it was so fun to discover the city with kara.
we took in tons of sights - lots of the usual tourist ones and then some not so usual...

dave was kind enough to take us on a tour of the NYSE.
SO COOL!

we grabbed 'flat maria' for a day:
(triratna in almost full effect)

and went to a soccer/footie match:

and met up with coby!!! and this dude who had been 'dying to get his pic taken with her all day', but forgot to actually ask for the pic afterwards...
yeah, an endless supply of free heinekens
will make you forget things.

this guy was there too,
he obviously knows whats what:

the next day my favorite auntie carolyn came to visit for the day. we hoofed it around the city shopping and visited rockefeller center for lunch. good times. i know it looks like i'm related to dolly parton in this shot,
but believe me - its the angle.... i'm not.

and OF COURSE, one cannot go to new york city without eating the worlds finest pizza. YUM.

i think this pic of two of my favorite girls, kara and stella, pretty much sums up the experience:

think im gonna have to get myself one of those
'i heart ny' tshirts now.
i totally get it.

chicago - part deux

something wasnt feeling quite right about the last post. finally realized it was 'cause i left out one of the highlights of the trip. ridiculous amounts of fun with kara, jason and matt, and a few other characters... mr potential 11, mr 'you kill my father... prepare to die', and our good friend grover:

grover likes his guinness, as you can tell by the
moistened 'stache and thumbs up.

looks like hes fond of redheads too... hey matty!

GOOD GOOD times with such amazing people.
this nite will be one for the memory banks for ages...
wait. does anyone actually remember any of it? ;)

bryce. grand canyon. vegas.

we spent the nite in a nice little
motel parking spot in kanab, utah.

when we woke i realized that i may have been a bit hasty in transferring things to the front seat last nite... OOPS!

since the turn signal and lites were broken, we decided to rent a car from fred flintstone, but the brakes were a bit touchy so we switched back.

on our way to bryce canyon national park, we decided to stop at the best friends animal sanctuary. such an amazing place, and so beautiful. some day i want to go back and volunteer there.

just beside this barn lived the turkey that kara befriended:

our visit to bryce was rainy and COLD - the park sits at about 9,000'. we spent very little time out of the car and snapped few photos, jumping out at the viewpoints and running back quickly for warmth

then we headed back to kanab. on our way thru a little town, we thought we'd definitely get a speeding ticket from the sheriff... turns out - that dummy was sleeping. ;)

from kanab we headed to the north rim of the grand canyon. we seemed to be following the storm, so it was rainy and cold again.

ok. over it. lets go to vegas!!! big smiles...

finally arrived and spiffed up a bit.
mmmm showers are a beautiful thing.

a few drinks into it and the nite started to look like this:

i'd tell you how the rest of it went -
but you know how the saying goes...

*note: you may have noticed a lack of bijou in this post.
dont worry, we didnt ditch her.

she'll be launching her own blog shortly too... :)
