ok, that title is super cheesy. apologies.after leaving the market I walked south through the city, heading in the direction of the ornate rooftops I could see in the distance.
along the way you pass over bridges that span tributaries of the chao prhya river.
afternoon traffic jam in the lock:
the streets are filled with people, cars, construction rubble,
and wild kitties on the prowl:
this cross eyed cat was posting up on one of the temples:
I visited a couple of ‘wats’ that afternoon.
I don’t have any photos from them, since I didn’t take any. (gasp!)
when you walk in through the walled gates,
you are overwhelmed with the most oppressive sense of peacefulness.
it hits you straight away. like a massive wave of quiet healing.
there is no way to describe it other than to feel it.
I put the camera away for those couple of hours and just lived in that space.
it was beautiful and immense.
I’ll take that afternoon with me forever.
no need for a photo memory.
after spending time in the temples, I ambled through their riverside gardens.
these statues made me giggle.
I cant decide if this guy should be holding a glass of wine by the stem, or a joint.
blasphemous, I know.
yet, terribly amusing!
ok. heres your one cheesy, gratuitous tourist shot of me.
(that’s for you, grandpa.)
and… moving on.
the sun started setting and so it was time to hop back on the ferry.
this little guy joined me:
the river is a pretty spectacular spot to watch the sunset from.
wat rakhang:
perfect ending to another nite in bangkok.
wait. two nites in bangkok?
that’s not how the song goes!
