paris is well known for its patisseries, and in particular… macarons.so, kasia and i thought it a great plan to spend an afternoon tasting the best paris had to offer.(we’re smart girls, no?)first stop… pierre herme at galeries lafayette.not sure if i was more smitten with the macarons or the shoe department. BON-JOUR!parisians are quite serious about their macarons, and therefore photos are a big NON – NON!somehow i was able to sneak this one in before getting caught. teehee.while at the galeries, we decided to check the view from the rooftop deck.ah, bonjour ‘tour eiffle’, fancy seeing you here… again.after that, we headed over to cafe flo at printemps for some tea and a relax.there, we snuck out our pierre herme macarons, and started the tasting.each tiny bite, a little bit of flavored heaven.after that, we headed a few floors down to laduree for more!did i mention how much i love paris?big macaron fan, BIG.once again, photos are prohibited at ladureebut, i snuck a few in anyway:
we took a seat in the cafe for another round of macaron indulgence.
then kasia said to me ‘lets try another type of patisserie, as well!’
(have i mentioned how fond i am of kasia?)
these dont even look real, do they?
and… of course, i had to choose my fave – the mille feuille.
mais, bien sur!
this was a rum caramel version, a bit sweeter than i prefer,
but somehow, i still found a way to enjoy it ;)
after all was said and done we had tried flavors of macarons like:
rose, olive oil & vanilla, milk chocolate & passion fruit,
salted caramel butter, hazelnut praline, pistachio, and bergamot.
but it wasnt until i was walking home that evening;
past the jardin du luxembourg, that i found my favorite.
yes, i stopped in to ANOTHER shop… even though i’d had the kings share of macarons that day.
i was curious, ok? so many different flavors!
and there it was, at ‘dallyou’…
mon macaron favorit:
(drum roll, s’il vous plait)
‘earl grey’
heaven.
Your adventure with Kasia was amazing. The colors of the macarons are so brilliant that it looks like eye candy! How did you sneak the photo in the famous Laduree?
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I do not care for macaron's taste, but I love to peek into every shop and look at them. They are so perfect looking, vibrant and cheerful. I am happy just to see how happy they make other people feel to eat them!
Great job with the article!
Cheers,
Priscilla
How can two girls set out on a seemingly innocent adventure and become so hedonistic? Ah, yes, the allure of the macaron! Such fond memories...I savour each sweet taste of heaven.
ReplyDeleteps. I still need to try the earl grey! come back soon...
Mmmmm, olive oil macarons! Sounds divine. These two latest posts are so visually attractive, Court. Paris has just moved up my list of places to revisit...
